MIO Clinic’s published menu sells Ultherapy Prime in three main tiers: 100 shots for KRW 399,000 (about $290), 300 shots for KRW 1,090,000 (about $790) and 600 shots for KRW 1,890,000 (about $1,370). There is also a separate Eye/Derma Ulthera 100 shots tier at KRW 399,000, for the thinner skin around the eyes. Every Ultherapy Prime line on the menu is marked as a treatment that uses numbing. All prices exclude VAT, are as published at the time of writing, and go up by KRW 100,000 if you ask for a specific doctor. The shot count is the unit you’re paying for. Which count suits your face, and where the shots go, is worked out at the consultation. You can’t read that from the price list, and nobody should promise it to you in advance.
Below, we go through what each tier is generally used for, how the price per shot changes as the count goes up, and what to confirm before you book.
What exactly is Ultherapy Prime, and what is a “shot”?
Ultherapy Prime is a microfocused ultrasound lifting device. It delivers small, focused points of heat to set depths under the skin, including the deeper supportive layer that surgical facelifts also target, without cutting the skin. The Prime version has real-time ultrasound imaging, so the practitioner can see the tissue layers on screen while placing each line of energy.
A shot is one pass of the transducer, which lays down one line of those heat points. So “300 shots” means 300 of those lines spread across your treatment area. A shot count tells you how much treatment you get. It doesn’t tell you where the shots go or how deep, and the clinician decides both after looking at your face.

What does each tier on MIO’s menu cost?
These are the Ultherapy Prime lines MIO publishes. VAT is excluded, and USD figures are rough conversions at about KRW 1,380 to the dollar, so check the day’s rate:

Some things these numbers don’t include:
- VAT is added on top of all of them.
- Choosing a specific doctor adds KRW 100,000 (about $70).
- The final plan depends on your assessment. You might end up with a different tier or a split between areas.
How does the price per shot change between tiers?
The larger tiers cost less per shot. Dividing each published price by its shot count gives (this is our arithmetic, not a figure MIO prints):
- 100 shots: KRW 399,000 ÷ 100 = about KRW 3,990 per shot (~$2.90)
- 300 shots: KRW 1,090,000 ÷ 300 = about KRW 3,633 per shot (~$2.60)
- 600 shots: KRW 1,890,000 ÷ 600 = KRW 3,150 per shot (~$2.30)
The cheaper per-shot rate only helps if you actually need that many shots. Six hundred shots on a face that needed 300 isn’t a saving. It’s energy you didn’t need. Buying the bigger tier because the per-shot figure looks better is the wrong way round. Start from what your face needs, then check which tier matches it.
The Eye/Derma tier costs the same as the standard 100-shot tier. It’s listed separately because the eye area needs different handling (see below), not because it’s a better deal.
Which areas is each tier generally meant for?
MIO’s menu names only one tier by area: Eye/Derma Ulthera 100 shots. The other three are listed by count only, so the zones below reflect how clinics in general tend to use these counts, not a MIO rule:
- Around 100 shots is usually a targeted amount: one small zone such as under the chin, the jawline edge or a single problem spot. It isn’t enough to spread evenly over a whole face.
- Around 300 shots is the count most often used for the lower and mid face together, such as cheeks, jawline and the area beside the mouth, done in one session.
- Around 600 shots usually allows full-face coverage with extra passes on key zones, or extending the treatment down onto the neck.
How your face actually gets covered depends on your face size, skin thickness, how much laxity there is and where it sits. At MIO, the plan is based on detailed clinical photography and AI-assisted facial analysis, and the doctor uses that data when deciding how many shots go where. The analysis doesn’t make the decision. The doctor does, but the proposal starts from measurements rather than a quick look. If a smaller tier is enough for you, it’s reasonable to expect to hear that.
Why is the eye area a separate tier?
The skin around the eyes is thinner and sits closer to bone. Treating it calls for a shallower transducer and more careful placement than the cheek or jaw. Listing Eye/Derma Ulthera 100 shots separately makes it clear this work isn’t just part of a full-face count.
MIO’s menu marks this tier last day for trip planning, while the other three tiers are marked any day. This is MIO’s own scheduling guidance. It means the clinic prefers you to have the eye tier near the end of your stay. Temporary swelling or tenderness is more noticeable around the eyes, and having it late in the trip keeps it out of the rest of your plans.
How does numbing work, and what does it feel like?
All four Ultherapy Prime lines on MIO’s menu are marked as using numbing. Microfocused ultrasound is one of the more uncomfortable non-surgical lifting treatments. Most people describe brief, deep pulses of heat or a sharp ache along the jaw and over bone, rather than a surface sting. The feeling is usually strongest along the jawline, near the cheekbones and wherever the skin lies close to bone.
Numbing takes the edge off, but you’ll usually still feel the pulses. Plan for the numbing time as well as the treatment itself, especially for 300 or 600 shots. Our piece on which lifting treatments need numbing covers how this affects the length of your appointment.
What happens afterwards — downtime and risks
Most people go back to normal activities the same day. That’s why MIO marks the main tiers as suitable for any day of a trip. Honest expectations:
- Common and temporary: redness right after treatment, mild swelling, and tenderness when touching the jaw or cheeks for a few days to a couple of weeks.
- Less common: small bruises, tingling, or brief numb patches along the treated lines, which usually settle over days to weeks.
- Rare but real: nerve irritation that causes temporary muscle weakness, or small raised welts. These usually resolve, but they are the reason careful placement and imaging matter.
The result doesn’t show up the same day. Some people notice a slight tightening straight away. The main effect comes from the body’s collagen response, which builds gradually over roughly two to three months. How long the result lasts varies from person to person. Many people are told to expect something in the range of a year before they think about repeating it. Age, skin quality and lifestyle all change that timeline, and some people see a subtler result than others.
Who is not a good fit for Ultherapy Prime?
Ultrasound lifting helps with mild to moderate laxity. It’s generally not the right tool if:
- you have significant sagging and loose skin that a surgical consultation would address more honestly;
- your concern is mainly volume loss, like hollow cheeks or temples, which energy devices don’t replace;
- you have very thin skin with little underlying fat, where a shallower or gentler approach may suit better;
- you are pregnant, have an active skin infection or open wound in the area, or have certain implants in the treatment zone. Tell the clinic about any of these;
- you need to look completely unchanged the next day for something important. Swelling is usually mild, but it can happen.
If one of these applies, a good consultation should steer you elsewhere. If it doesn’t, that’s a sign to ask more questions.
What about pairing it with Thermage?
MIO’s menu also lists combination lines. Ultherapy Prime 300 shots + Thermage 300 shots is KRW 2,190,000 (about $1,590), and Ultherapy Prime 600 shots + Thermage 600 shots is KRW 3,690,000 (about $2,670), both excluding VAT. Ultrasound works at deeper layers and radiofrequency heats more broadly nearer the surface, so the two are often paired. You don’t need both, though. What to confirm before you book
- Which tier the doctor suggests, and why. Ask how the shots will be split between zones.
- Whether VAT and any doctor-selection fee are included in the figure you’re quoted.
- Where the eye area fits in. If it’s part of your plan, ask whether it will be done as the separate Eye/Derma tier and scheduled late in your trip.
- Timing against your flight. The main tiers suit any day. Leave room anyway in case of swelling.
